  • Edward Buttery

    Founder and CEO

    Founded Taylor Maritime in 2013.

    Previously worked at Nordea Bank in their Singapore Shipping, Oil and Offshore Finance team and prior to that served as Vice President and Deputy COO at Hong Kong based shipping company Asia Maritime Pacific.

    Began career on the chartering desk at Pacific Basin Shipping and the dry bulk broking desk at Clarksons.

    Graduated from CASS Business School with an MSc in Shipping Trade and Finance and attended Oxford University as an undergraduate.

    Awarded Young Person of the Year by Seatrade Asia in 2017.

  • Alexander Slee

    Deputy CEO

    Joined Taylor Maritime in 2016.

    Previously served as Group Strategy Director at Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, Director at Univan Ship Management and General Manager at tanker and bulker owner Vanship Holdings.

    Prior to that worked with Pacific Basin in Hong Kong and Citigroup’s investment banking division in London.

    Graduated from Oxford University with an MA, and has attended a management programme at INSEAD.

  • Kevin Leach-Smith


    Joined Taylor Maritime in 2018.

    Most recently served as Vice President, Operations at Masterbulk Pte Limited.

    Prior to that held the positions of Fleet Manager with Prisco (Singapore) Pte Limited, Marine Superintendent with Vela International Marine Limited, Marine Consultant with Aquarius International Consultants, and Berthing Master with Conoco Limited.

    Seagoing service on board a variety of commercial vessels and in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

    Holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Law from London Metropolitan University, an MBA (Shipping and Logistics) from Middlesex University and a Class 1 (Deck Officer) Certificate of Competency.

    Director of Sale and Purchase

    Joined Taylor Maritime at its inception in 2013.

    Co-founder and Chairman of Caledonian Pacific Pte. Ltd., a boutique sale and purchase ship brokerage.

    Graduated from Cambridge University (Pembroke College) and completed a Masters at John Hopkins SAIS in Economics and International Energy Policy.

  • Yukihiro Rob Hata

    Executive Director

    Joined Taylor Maritime in 2017.

    Previously served as General Manager with Uni-Asia Shipping Ltd, Business Development Manager with Univan Ship Management, and as General Manager with Sojitz Corporation (formerly Nissho Iwai) in Hong Kong.

    Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Liberal Arts, International Christian University, Tokyo.

  • Yam Lay Tan

    Financial Controller

    Joined Taylor Maritime in 2019.

    Most recently served as General Manager, Finance at Epic Shipping Ltd with oversight of finance as well as the HR, IT and secretarial functions for the Group.

    Over twenty years of professional accounting and finance experience in the shipping, service, semiconductor, IT and security industries.

    Graduated from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore.

    Over thirty years’ experience as a commercial lawyer specialising in maritime projects and finance.

    Latterly Senior Partner at Clifford Chance specialising in maritime and offshore projects and finance.

    Former Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association.

    Member of the Maritime Industry Council and of the sub-committee of the Financial Services Development Council on maritime leasing in Hong Kong

    Qualified in English, Hong Kong and Marshall Islands law.
